A Slight Change of Pace…..
After the hurly-burly of the NaNo challenge, the deep, deep peace of writing for pleasure beckons once again. Whether it’s editing something already written or beginning an entirely new piece of work, there’s nothing quite like taking up a pen or sitting at a keyboard and losing oneself in the creative process.
As well as going on about all manner of writerly things, I intend to publish novel excerpts, short stories and some non-fiction, too. I don’t profess to be a great article writer – I much prefer the fictional worlds I create – but I do occasionally try my hand at writing real stuff. Then I find it more comfortable to write about my past, (which covers a considerable number of years), when things were rather different.
I agree. I found your post this morning while taking a break from mine, and you’ve made me want to finish. It is a deep peace, isn’t it? Thanks!
Love your blog, Neeks – we did a similar 3-word set exercise at my writing group and it really gets the creative juices flowing. I’ll stop by again and read some more 🙂
I love yours too! I love love the snow falling, it’s awesome! Your writing is.., elegant.
Thank you….Elegant…I haven’t been called that in a long time…it’s probably my age showing!
What you say is so true. Writing is just pleasurable. There’s nothing better than turning your ideas into something real and tangible. Great blog!
Thank you! Glad you like my writing 🙂
Hello! I’m paying it forward and have nominated you for a Versatile Blogger Award. 🙂 http://wp.me/p1H9Iw-3Y
Excellent! Thank you so much 🙂
It’s wonderful to find the pleasure it in again after a frantic rush.
It seems the easiest when the topic at hand is written from some kind of personal experience. Writing about the past is a great way to get the hang of writing nonfiction; just be sure to include what the reader needs to know to follow along, and if it gets to be too much, throw in some fiction to keep too personal events hidden.
Nicely done. I think I’ll wander for a bit.
My first novel had a lot of autobiographical detail in it, and so has the next, unfinished one, though in wildly differing contexts, and it’s all fictionalised. The names have been changed to protect the guilty – that sort of thing. 🙂
You’ve been nominated for an award….paste in your browser to read and weep….

Thank you – I really appreciate this. 🙂
Personally, I cringe at having to pass these “awards” along. One never knows…but if you (meaning YOU) consider it a compliment along with my envy and admiration for your writing/literary skill(s)…and enjoyment at reading…then participating becomes immaterial. That’s my thinking…..
I’m with you, and I appreciate the comments. I’m such a novice at this blogging thing – I haven’t learned how to accept awards graciously, nor how to award them or pass them on. I hope no one is offended by my apparent lack of interest.
Nice article, you were more relaxed and we were relaxed reading, and yet inspired to get on with it.
